How to add custom metadata to your blog posts and why ?

Even though search engines give very less priority to the meta-keywords, it’s still important to provide the metadata for the blog posts. Just remember that if you’ll provide genuine metadata, you’ll be helping your website a whole lot. Although because the way WordPress works, it’s almost impossible to have custom metadata for each and every blog post.

However, it becomes pretty easy to post metadata for each and every blog post with the help of All in One SEO Pack plugin. The plugin allows you to change the title of the post and keep it different from what WordPress automatically generates. Here are some of the benefits of All in One SEO Pack :

1. Have custom title for individual posts : As I mentioned before that it lets you change the title tag of each and every individual post and thus you can have different title and different post headline.

2. Generates meta description : It can automatically generate the meta description for your posts, however if you want to invest some time and can write some unique and keyword filled description then it can be really helpful. However you can always leave it on the plugin to auto-generate the description.

3. Adds keywords to your post : All the tags which you add in the post , it takes them as keywords. You can also specify your own keywords.

4. Get less results in supplemental index : There is a problem with WordPress that it shows the content of the post in categories and tag pages too and thus makes search bots think that you are putting up duplicate content and thus puts your pages in the supplemental index. You can use this plugin to ensure that search engine bots won’t crawl the categories and tag pages and thus will keep your original pages out of the supplemental index.

It’s one kick ass plugin and that’s why I suggest this to each and everyone who’s using WordPress platform for blogging and I certainly believe that WordPress is incomplete without this plugin.
